in 2007, Dr. Neel left Virginia Tech to found CRT. He is
a leading researcher in the field of the analysis and
design of cognitive radio networks, having received
three paper awards on the subject and writing the first
paper proposing the use of game theory for the
design and analysis of cognitive radio networks.

He is the chair of the SDR Forum Cognitive Radio
Working Group and serves on several Technical
Program Committees related to Cognitive and
Software Radio. In 2012, he was named one of the
CIT Top 50 Tech Entrepreneurs for Virginia.

A co-founder of CRT, Dr. Reed's primary
responsibilities are still with Virginia Tech where he is
the Willis G. Worcester Professor in the Bradley
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
and Director of Wireless @ Virginia Tech – the
umbrella organization combining the disparate
wireless research interests at Virginia Tech. In 2005,
Dr. Reed became Fellow to the IEEE for contributions
to software radio and communications signal
processing and for leadership in engineering
education. In 2004, Dr. Reed Received the
Outstanding Industry Contributor Award from the SDR
